Anil Kapoor first appeared in a small role in ‘Hamare Tumhare’ (1979), followed by the lead role in the regional-film ‘Vamsa Vruksham.’
Kapoor’s first Hindi-film lead role was in ‘Who Saat Din’ (1983). His supporting role in ‘Mashaal’ (1984) won him first award, followed by starring roles in ‘Yudh,’ ‘Saaheb’ (1985), ‘Karma’ (1986). In 1986, he featured in ‘Jaanbaaz,’ ‘Insaaf Ki Awaaz’ and ‘Chameli ki Shaadi.’ After commercially successful ‘Mr. India’ (1987), he won awards for the hit-movie ‘Tezaab’ (1988).

He was producer-actor for ‘My Wife’s Murder’ (2005), ‘No Problem’ (2010), and ‘Fanney Khan’ (2018). His international projects include the TV-series ‘24’ (2010) and ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol’ (2011).
