Alan Thicke was a Canadian TV show host, actor, and songwriter. He started off by appearing in a small role in the 1969 Canadian TV series ‘It’s Our Stuff’. He then went on to host the Canadian Game show ‘First Impressions’ (1971). Consequently, he found early fame by hosting the Canadian daytime talk show ‘The Alan Thicke Show’ (1980 – 1982).
Following that he went on to host the short-lived American late night talk show ‘Thicke of the Night’ (1983 – 1984). Simultaneously, he also made his presence felt in the world of acting. Some of Alan Thicke’s most successful TV shows were ‘The Love Boat’ (1984), ‘Murder, She Wrote’ (1993), ‘Married… with Children’ (1996 – 1997), ‘Animal Miracles’ (2001 – 2004), ‘How I Met Your Mother’ (2008 – 2013), and ‘Unusually Thicke’ (2014).
Perhaps his most famous role was that of Dr. Jason Seaver in the sitcom ‘Growing Pains’ (1985 – 1992). Alan Thicke never really made it big in movies. ‘Cooper Mountain’ (1983), ‘Raising Helen’ (2004), and ‘The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard’ are some of his best movies.
