American rapper, actor, entrepreneur and author, James Todd Smith, famous by his stage name ‘LL Cool J,’ came up with his debut studio album ‘Radio’ in 1985, which became a critical and commercial success. He has since spawned 12 studio albums and two greatest hits compilations. His notable musical pursuits include hit singles ‘Mama Said Knock You Out’ (1991) and ‘Hey Lover’ (1995) both of which won him Grammy Awards. He has also endeavoured into acting with films like ‘In Too Deep’ (1999) and ‘Deep Blue Sea’ (1999); and TV productions like ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ (2009–present), and ‘Lip Sync Battle’ (2015–present).
He started rapping when he was just nine; he was already creating demo tapes at age sixteen. With time, he not only evolved as a successful rapper but also forayed and thrived in acting with several award-winning performances, particularly in ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ that won him a Teen Choice Award in 2013.
