Gloria Stuart was an American actress and activist, best known for playing a 101-year-old elder ‘Rose Dawson Calvert’ in one of the most iconic Hollywood films, ‘Titanic’ (1997), for which she earned an ‘Academy Award’ nomination for ‘Best Supporting Actress.’ She still remains the oldest ‘Oscar’ nominee in the category. She made her film debut in the 1932 film ‘Street of Women’ as ‘Doris "Dodo" Baldwin.’ In a career spanning over 70 years, Gloria worked in several successful films, including ‘The All-American’ (1932), ‘The Old Dark House’ (1932), ‘The Kiss Before the Mirror’ (1933), ‘The Invisible Man’ (1933), ‘Maybe It’s Love’ (1935), ‘It Could Happen to You’ (1939), ‘She Wrote the Book’ (1946), ‘My Favorite Year’ (1982), and ‘Land of Plenty’ (2014), which was also her final film appearance. Some of her unsuccessful films are ‘Private Jones’ (1933), ‘Life Begins in College’ (1937), and ‘The Love Letter’ (1999).Â
