Kristin Chenoweth began her acting journey with regional theatre productions and made her Broadway debut with ‘Steel Pier’ (1997) that won her a ‘Theatre World Award.’ She went on to perform in Broadway productions like ‘You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown’ (1999), and ‘Epic Proportions’ (1999), before making her television debut in the made-for-television musical-comedy-drama film ‘Annie’ in 1999. In 2001, she got her own sitcom series, ‘Kristin,’ on NBC. The show was canceled after airing 6 episodes. The following year, she made her first big-screen appearance in the film ‘Topa Topa Bluffs’ directed by Eric Simonson.
In 2004, Chenoweth joined the main cast of the American serial political drama television series ‘The West Wing.’ She played the role of ‘Annabeth Schott’ and remained a part of the show until it went off-air in 2006. After making brief appearances in series and shows like ‘Sesame Street’ (2006), ‘Elmo's World’ (2007), ‘Ugly Betty’ (2007), and ‘Robot Chicken’ (2007), she grabbed the role of ‘Olive Snook’ in the American comedy-drama television series ‘Pushing Daisies’ in 2007 which earned her a ‘Primetime Emmy Award’ for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.’ The show aired 22 episodes and ran for almost 2 years, from October 3, 2007, to June 13, 2009. Chenoweth was next seen in ‘Sit Down, Shut Up’ (2009), ‘Glee’ (2009-2011, 2014), ‘Hot in Cleveland’ (2012), ‘Kirstie’ (2013-2014), ‘American Dad!’ (2015), ‘American Gods’ (2017), ‘Trial & Error’ (2018), and ‘Harvey Girls Forever!’ (2019).
Apart from television, Chenoweth has also appeared in films such as ‘Bewitched’ (2005), ‘The Pink Panther’ (2006), ‘Space Chimps’ (2008), ‘Into Temptation’ (2009), ‘Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue’ (2010), ‘Hit and Run’ (2012), ‘The Opposite Sex’ (2014), ‘The Boy Next Door’ (2015), ‘Hard Sell’ (2016), ‘My Little Pony: The Movie,’ and ‘Holidate’ (2020). She was last seen in the 2021 American sports drama film ‘National Champions’ directed by Ric Roman Waugh. The film received positive response from critics. In 2021, she also joined the main cast of the American musical comedy television series ‘Schmigadoon!’ as ‘Mildred Layton.’ The show completed its first season in August 2021.
