Anushka Sharma made her film debut with the 2008 Hindi-language romantic comedy film ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.’ The film was a big hit and she was nominated for the ‘Filmfare Award’ in the Best Actress category for her role. In 2010, she was seen in the Parmeet Sethi-directed ‘Badmaash Company’ which received mixed reviews but was a commercial success. She gained prominence under the Yash Raj banner with hits like ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ (2010) and ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ (2012), the latter for which she bagged the ‘Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.’
In 2014, Sharma starred in the Hindi-language science fiction comedy-drama film ‘PK’ directed by Rajkumar Hirani. The film opened to critical acclaim with critics praising the storyline and the fine direction of Hirani. PK was also a phenomenal box office success and went on to become one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. She starred as ‘Meera’ in the 2015 Indian Hindi-language thriller film NH10. Her performance received massive praise and earned several nominations for her performance including 4 ‘BIG Star Entertainment Award’ nominations and 2 ‘Star Guild Award’ nominations. The film also marked Sharma’s debut as a producer.
The year 2016 saw the release of the Ali Abbas Zafar-directed ‘Sultan’ where Sharma was seen playing the role of ‘Aarfa Ali Khan,’ the wife of the main protagonist. The film received mostly positive reviews with critics praising the performances of the cast. ‘Sultan’ was a massive commercial success and later came out as one of the highest-grossing Indian films. That same year, she also starred in the musical romantic drama film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.’ which was also a box office success.
Anushka Sharma went on to star in films like ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ (2017), ‘Pari’ (2018), and ‘Sanju’ (2018). She was last seen in the 2018 Indian romantic comedy-drama film ‘Zero’ directed by Aanand L. Rai. The film received mixed reviews from critics and failed at the box office. She made a special appearance in the song "Kudi Nu Nachne De '' from the 2020 film ‘Angrezi Medium.’
