Sushant Singh Rajput started his career in the television drama series ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’ in 2008. Though the character he played died early in the series, he was so popular that he was brought back as a spirit for the ending.His breakthrough into films was facilitated by his superb performance in the soap opera ‘Pavitra Rishta’ (2009 - 2011) that got him multiple awards for Best Actor. He made his debut on the big screen in Abhishek Kapoor’s buddy drama ‘Kai Po Che’ (2013), where he was one of the three main characters. He received positive reviews for his performance in ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ (2013) and ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy’ (2015). He also appeared in a small role in the 2014 Indian satirical comedy-drama PK. He was also appreciated for his performance in the sports biographical film ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ (2016) where he portrayed Indian cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The multi-starrer ‘Chichore’ proved a success at the box office and his acting was appreciated a lot. He also starred in the Netflix film ‘Drive’ opposite Jacqueline Fernandez. His last film, Dil Bechara, was released posthumously on Hotstar, on 24 July 2020.
