Parineeti Chopra started her career as a public relations consultant for Yash Raj Films. She made her acting debut on the big screen in a supporting role in the romantic comedy movie ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ in 2011. Though the film was not a commercial success, Chopra received positive reviews for her role and won several awards, including the ‘IIFA Award for Best Debut,’ the ‘Filmfare Award,’ the ‘Producers Guild Film Award’, and the ‘Star Screen Award.’
Chopra played her first leading role in the 2012 romantic drama ‘Ishaqzaade’ which proved to be a both critical and box office success. Parineeti earned the ‘National Film Award – Special Mention’ for her performance in the film. The following year, she played the role of Gayatri in the romantic comedy ‘Shuddh Desi Romance’ (2013), which was moderately successful. The same year, she was seen in the Vinil Mathew-directed romantic comedy ‘Hasee Toh Phasee.’ The movie opened to greatly positive reviews from critics with many praising the role of Parineeti. She won the ‘BIG Star Entertainment Award’ for ‘Most Entertaining Actor in a Comedy Film - Female’ for her performance in the film.
The year 2014 was not a good one for Parineeti Chopra as her ‘Daawat-e-Ishq’ and ‘Kill Dil’ turned out to be disasters at the box office. After a gap of three years, she made a comeback with the 2017 romantic drama ‘Meri Pyaari Bindu.’ The movie marked her debut as a playback singer and she earned several nominations for her song ‘Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin.’ The same year, Parineeti appeared in the fourth installment of the ‘Golmaal’ film series, ‘Golmaal Again.’ The movie became a blockbuster hit and was the 5th highest-grossing film of 2017. The year 2018 saw the release of ‘Namaste England’ where Parineeti played the role of ‘Jasmeet Kaur Randhawa.’ Despite being one of the highly anticipated releases of 2018, ‘Namaste England’ became a commercial and critical flop.
In 2019, Parineeti played a small role in the war film Kesari. She also gave the female version of the song ‘Teri Mitti’ in the film. Her next release that year was “Jabariya Jodi’ where she was cast opposite Sidharth Malhotra. However, ‘Jabariya Jodi’ failed to meet the expectations of the crowd and was declared a box office flop.
Parineeti had no releases in 2020. In 2021, she appeared in the mystery/thriller ‘The Girl on the Train.’ The movie was the remake of a British film with the same name. Parineeti’s performance as ‘Mira Kapoor’ in the film earned a lot of praise from the critics. Her next release in 2021 was the Dibakar Banerjee-directed ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar.’ In the same year, Parineeti’s highly anticipated biographical sports film ‘Saina’ was also released. She was lauded for her portrayal of ‘Saina Nehwal’ in the film.
Parineeti Chopra will be next seen in the crime drama film ‘Animal’ where she will work opposite Ranbir Kapoor. Chopra is also going to be a part of the upcoming family film ‘Uunchai.’
