Annette Funicello began her career at the age of twelve as a child actor. She appeared in the ‘Mickey Mouse Club,’ in which she played one of the most popular Mouseketeers. She popularized the successful ‘Beach Party,’ thus, establishing herself as an actress.
She made her film debut in the 1959 film ‘The Shaggy Dog.’ The film became a box-office hit. In ‘Make Room for Daddy,’ she had a multiple-episode guest arc. In 1961, she starred in ‘Babes in Toyland,’ a big budget Disney musical that earned mixed reviews.
She became a teen idol with her roles in a series of ‘Beach Party’ movies. She also starred in follow ups of ‘Beach Party’ namely ‘Bikini Beach’ and ‘Muscle Beach Party,’ which were equally popular.
