Vincent Price was an American actor who gained fame for his distinctive performances in horror movies. Like many other actors, he started his career on stage performing in ‘Chicago’ (1935).Â
He soon transitioned to movies making his debut in ‘Service de Luxe’ (1938). Vincent Price acted in some of his best movies after that including, ‘Brigham Young’ (1940), ‘The Song of Bernadette’ (1943), ‘Laura’ (1944), and ‘Wilson’ (1944). His first horror movie was ‘Tower of London’ (1939) and this established him as a bankable star in the genre. ‘The Invisible Man Returns’ (1940), ‘Leave Her to Heaven’ (1945), and ‘Dragonwyck’ (1946) were critically and commercially successful too.
However, Vincent Price also starred in a string of box office disasters like, ‘The Web’ (1947), ‘The Long Night’ (1947), and ‘The Bribe’ (1949). In the latter part of his career, ‘The Three Musketeers’ (1948), ‘Champagne for Caesar’ (1950), ‘House on Haunted Hill’ (1959), ‘The Ten Commandments’ (1956), ‘The Last Man on Earth’ (1964), and ‘The Abominable Dr. Phibes’ (1971), were his highest grossing movies.
