American actor and comedian William Christopher was best known for playing the role of Father Mulcahy in the television series ‘M*A*S*H*’ (1972 – 1983). The spin off ‘AfterMASH’ (1983 – 1085) failed to make the same impact. His highest rated performance on television was for his role as Andrus in the superhero series ‘Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman’ (1997). He had a recurring role as Private Lester Hummel in the sitcom ‘Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.’ (1965 – 1968). He guest starred in a number of popular series like ‘The Andy Griffith Show’ (1960 – 1068), ‘The Patty Duke Show’ (1963 – 1966) and ‘The Men from Shiloh’ (1962). His other television appearances include ‘Hogan’s Heroes’ (1965 – 1968), ‘Good Times’ (1975) and ‘Mad about You’ (1998).
