Frank Welker made his acting debut in the animated mystery comedy television series 'Scooby-Doo, Where Are You,' in 1969. He voiced the character ‘Fred Jones’ and remained a part of the series until 1970. Following his debut, Welker acted in television series like 'Super Friends' (1973), 'Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch' (1974), ‘Dynomutt, Dog Wonder’ (1976-1977), ‘Jabberjaw’ (1976), ‘The Robonic Stooges’ (1977), 'Captain Caveman and the Teen Angels' (1977-80), and 'The New Fantastic Four' (1978). In 1979, he made his big-screen debut in the science fiction monster horror-thriller film ‘Prophecy.’ He lent his voice to the character ‘Katahdin.’ Even though the film failed to impress the critics, it was a box office success. He then acted in films like ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ (1981), ‘Heidi's Song’ (1982), ‘Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind’ (1984), ‘My Science Project’ (1985), ‘SpaceCamp’ (1986), ‘The Chipmunk Adventure’ (1987), ‘G.I. Joe: The Movie’ (1987), ‘The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking’ (1988), and ‘Tremors’ (1990).
In 1991, he joined the cast of the animated sitcom ‘The Simpsons,’ created by Matt Groening. He voiced various characters in the series, including ‘Gogo Dodo,’ ‘Furrball,’ ‘Calamity Coyote,’ and remained a part of the show until 2014. In 1992, he became a part of the voice cast of the superhero animated television series ‘Batman: The Animated Series.’ The show ran for 2 seasons and aired its final episode in 1995. Welker continued to lend his voice to television series such as ‘Swat Kats: The Radical Squadron’ (1993-1994), ‘Animaniacs’ (1993-1998), ‘The Mask: The Animated Series’ (1995-1997), ‘Dexter's Laboratory’ (1996-2003), ‘Johnny Bravo’ (1997-2004), ‘Family Guy’ (1999-2011), and ‘Futurama’ (1999-2013). He next appeared in the American animated television series ‘The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy’ in 2001. He starred in 20 episodes and remained a part of the show until 2007.
Welker was next seen in television shows like ‘What's New, Scooby-Doo?’ (2002-2007), ‘Kim Possible’ (2003-2007), ‘Dave the Barbarian’ (2004-2005), ‘Curious George’ (2006-present), ‘Robot Chicken’ (2006-2014), ‘Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated’ (2010-2013), ‘The Tom and Jerry Show’ (2014-2021), ‘Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia’ (2016-2018), ‘3Below: Tales of Arcadia’ (2018-2019), ‘Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?’ (2019-present), and ‘Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles’ (2019). Welker was last seen in the 2021 animated direct-to-video film ‘Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo! Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog’ where he voiced the characters ‘Scooby-Doo’ and ‘Fred Jones.’ The film received a positive response from critics.
