Swara Bhaskar made her film debut in a supporting role in the drama film ‘Madholal Keep Walking’ (2009), which was a box office failure. The following year, she played the role of ‘Payal Jassi Gill’ in the romantic comedy ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ for which she won the ‘2012 Zee Cine Awards’ for ‘Best Actor in a Supporting Role– Female.’
In 2013, Bhaskar won the ‘Zee Cine Award’ and ‘Screen Award’ for her performance as ‘Bindiya Tripathi’ in the Hindi-language romantic drama film ‘Raanjhanaa.’ The film received critical acclaim and was a box office success. In 2015, Bhaskar reprised her role as ‘Payal Jassi Gill’ in ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns,’ the sequel to the 2011 film ‘Tanu Weds Manu.’ The film opened to critical acclaim and was a massive box office success. That same year, she also starred in the Sooraj R. Barjatya-directed ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.’ While the film received a lukewarm response from critics, it managed to make big numbers at the box office and went on to become one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of all time.
Bhaskar starred as ‘Sakshi Soni’ in the 2018 Hindi-language buddy comedy film ‘Veere Di Wedding’ for which she won the ‘Lux Golden Rose Award.’ She was last seen in the 2021 LGBT romance short ‘Sheer Qorma’ directed by Faraz Arif Ansari.
