Pooja Bhatt made her acting debut in the Mahesh Bhatt-directed TV film ‘Daddy’ (1989) for which she earned the ‘Filmfare Award’ for ‘Lux New Face of the Year.’ In 1991, she starred in the romantic comedy film ‘Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin.’ The movie was an unofficial remake of the Frank Capra-directed Hollywood film ‘It Happened One Night.’ The same year, Pooja Bhatt appeared opposite ‘Sanjay Dutt’ in the romance-thriller ‘Sadak.’ The film was both a critical and box office success.Â
Pooja Bhatt went on to appear in many other hit movies, including 'Junoon' (1992), 'Chor Aur Chaand' (1993), 'Naaraaz' (1994), 'Hum Dono' (1995), 'Angrakshak' (1995), 'Chaahat' (1996), and ‘Border’ (1997).Â
In 1998, Pooja starred as ‘Tamanna Chopra’ in the drama film ‘Tamanna,’ directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The movie won the ‘National Film Award for ‘Best Film on Other Social Issues.’ Her second release that year was another Mahesh Bhatt-directed drama film ‘Zakhm.’ While the movie failed at the box office, Bhatt earned wide praise for her performance and won the ‘Nargis Dutt Award’ for ‘Best Feature Film on National Integration’ and the ‘Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award’ for ‘Best Actress’ for her role in the film.  Â
After ‘Zakhm,’ Pooja Bhatt only appeared in 3 films, which were ‘Everybody Says I'm Fine!’ (2001), ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ (2009), and ‘Sadak 2’ (2020), in which she played a small cameo.
Pooja Bhatt has produced several films, including 'Tamanna' (1997), 'Dushman' (1998), 'Jism' (2003), 'Paap' (2003), 'Rog' (2005), 'Holiday' (2006), 'Dhokha' (2007), 'Jism 2' (2012) and 'Cabaret' (2019).
Pooja Bhatt played the role of ‘Rani Irani’ in the 2021 web series ‘Bombay Begums.’ The series was aired on Netflix and received mixed reviews from critics.
