Gabe Kaplan is an American comedian, writer, and poker player, best known for playing ‘Gabe Kotter’ in the TV sitcom ‘Welcome Back, Kotter,’ from 1975 to 1979. He is also known for replacing ‘Norm MacDonald’ as the commentator for the cash game poker series titled ‘High Stakes Poker,’ in 2011. Gabe always dreamt of becoming a ‘Major League Baseball’ player. However, he couldn’t make it to a minor league team and decided to pursue a career as a stand-up comedian. He made his screen debut in the TV film ‘The Love Boat,’ in 1976. From 1973 to 1974, Gabe performed on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.’ He was also seen in films such as ‘Fast Break’ (1979), ‘Tulips’ (1981), ‘Jack the Dog’ (2001), and ‘The Grand’ (2007). He was also seen in several TV series, including ‘Battle of the Network Stars’ (1976-78),‘Lewis & Clark’ (1981-82), ‘Murder, She Wrote’ (1984), and ‘BoJack Horseman’ (2019).
A basketball fanatic in New York City dreams of becoming a successful coach.
