Craig Dougall McLachlan, winner of Australian TV’s top award ‘Gold Logie,’ and known for his versatility, initially made guest-appearances on TV-series ‘Sons and Daughters’ (1986-1987) and soap-opera ‘The Young Doctors.’
McLachlan’s breakthrough role was as ‘Henry Ramsay’ in Australian soap-opera ‘Neighbors’ (1987-1989),  which earned him TV’s highest award ‘Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on Australian TV’ (1990), and also ‘Silver Logie for Most Popular Actor’ (1989, 1990).
Next, McLachlan was cast as ‘Grant Mitchell’ in soap-opera ‘Home & Away’ (1990-1991) which fetched him another ‘Silver Logie’ in 1991. He also enjoyed a successful career in stage musicals. Further he appeared in TV’s WWII-film ‘Heroes II: The Return’ (1991).
McLachlan made his feature-film debut in 1992’s Australian slasher-parody film ‘Mad Bomber in Love’ and New Zealand drama-film ‘Absent without Leave.’ In 1995, he was cast in main role as ‘Ed Russell’ in British TV’s spy-drama series ‘Bugs’ (1995-1997) and as ‘Sergei Saltykov’ in TV-film ‘Catherine the Great’ (1996) about Catherine II of Russia. McLachlan appeared in TV-films ‘Abschied in den Tod’ (2001), ‘My Husband My Killer’ (2001), ‘Heroes’ Mountain’ (2002), ‘Superfire’ (2002), ‘BlackJack: Ace Point Game’ (2005), and miniseries ‘Tribe’ (1999). He played recurring roles in drama-comedy series ‘Always Greener’ (2001-2002) and ‘Packed to the Rafters’ (2008-2012), drama-series ‘McLeod’s Daughters’ (2004). In TV-project based on true story, ‘Through My Eyes’ (2004), he played ‘Michael Chamberlain’ a writer-teacher-pastor falsely accused of his missing daughter’s death.
In 2001, McLachlan starred in comedy-film ‘Let’s Get Skase,’ and horror-film ‘Cubbyhouse,’ followed by 2005’s comedy-film ‘Hating Alison Ashley,’ and ‘The Great Raid,’ a war-film about raid on Philippine’s Luzon island during WWII. He composed music and starred in 2011 film ‘Savages Crossing.’
Thereafter, McLachlan appeared in comedy-series ‘Lowdown’ (2010, 2012), played recurring roles in drama-series ‘Rescue: Special Ops’ (2011) and comedy-drama series ‘House Husbands’ (2013-2014), and essayed a gay character in Australian award-winning sitcom miniseries ‘At home with Julia’ (2011). He made guest-appearances in American action-series ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ (2011) and Australian drama-series ‘Redfern Now’ (2013).  Â
McLachlan played the lead as ‘Dr. Lucien Blake’ in period crime-series ‘The Doctor Blake Mysteries’ (2013-2017) which fetched him Silver Logie nomination. In 2016 he played main role as ‘Eric’ in drama-series ‘The Wrong Girl,’ and appeared in crime-drama miniseries ‘Deep Water.’ The same year he starred in made-for-TV sci-fi thriller-film ‘Restoration.’
