Chris Tucker is an American actor and stand-up comedian who received fame for portraying one of his best roles, Detective James Carter, in the ‘Rush Hour’ film series (1998-2007). Along with his co-star Jackie Chan, he received many awards and nominations for the three films in the franchise, including ‘MTV Movie Award’ and ‘Kids Choice Award’.
Following his cinematic debut in ‘House Party 3’ (1994), he gained recognition for playing the role of Smokey in the buddy comedy ‘Friday’ (1995). Two of his 1997 movies, ‘Money Talks’ and ‘The Fifth Element’ saw him appear alongside Charlie Sheen and Bruce Willis – but both are considered among his worst films, earning him nomination for ‘Worst New Star’ at ‘Razzie Award’. A good friend of late singer Michael Jackson, he introduced him at his '30th Anniversary Special' and appeared in his music video for ‘You Rock My World’ in 2001.
In 2012, he appeared in the top grossing romantic comedy ‘Silver Linings Playbook’, which received eight ‘Academy Award’ nominations. A born-again Christian, he skipped the two sequels to ‘Friday’, but is scheduled to reprise his role as Smokey in ‘Last Friday’ and will also appear in the fourth installment of ‘Rush Hour’.
