Michael Anthony Vitar began his acting career at a young age of 12. A casting manager discovered him while Vitar was waiting for a ride at school carnival.
Vitar’s debut film was action-thriller ‘Diplomatic Immunity’ (1991) in the role of ‘Arturo,’ followed by a video-short ‘Everything You Wanted to Know about Puberty for Boys’ (1991) and an episode of TV-sitcom Brooklyn Bridge’ (1991). Next, he appeared in neo-noir mystery-film ‘Sunset Grill’ (1993).
Vitar is recognized for his role as ‘Benjamin Franklin ‘Benny the Jet’ Rodriguez’ in coming-of-age sports comedy film ‘The Sandlot’ (1993) (His brother Pablo played ‘Older Benjamin’ in the same film). Further, he played ‘Luis Mendoza’ in sports-comedy drama film ‘D2: The Mighty Ducks’ (1994) and its sequel ‘D3: The Mighty Ducks’ (1996).
Vitar also appeared in police-procedural TV-series ‘NYPD Blue’ (1996) and ‘Chicago Hope’ (1997). He retired from acting profession in 1997. But he was seen as ‘Benjamin Rodriguez’ (uncredited) in a flashback scene in 2005 sequel ‘The Sandlot 2.’
