Michael York began his acting career in 1956 with stage. After appearances in some episodes of a few TV-series during 1964-1967, he played ‘Jolyon Forsyte’ in the TV-series ‘The Forsyte Saga’ (1967) and made his film debut as ‘Lucentio’ in the period romantic-comedy ‘The Taming of the Shrew’ (1967), followed by ‘Accident,’ ‘Red & Blue’ and ‘Smashing Time’ (all in 1967).
York next appeared as ‘Tybalt’ in ‘Romeo & Juliet’ (1968), before starring as the lead in the black comedy ‘Something for Everyone’ (1970) as a World War I soldier in the action war film ‘Zeppelin’ (1971), as ‘Brian Roberts’ in the film adaption of the musical ‘Cabaret’ (1972), as ‘Pip’ in the TV film ‘Great Expectations’ (1974), and as ‘John the Baptist’ in the epic miniseries ‘Jesus of Nazareth’ (1977).
York played ‘D’Artagnan’ in the film adaption of ‘The Three Musketeers’ (1973), ‘The Four Musketeers’ (1974), and the third part, ‘The Return of Musketeers’ (1989). He appeared as a British soldier ‘Lt. Drake’ posted in India, in the drama film ‘Conduct Unbecoming’ (1975), while in the cult classic sci-fi action film ‘Logan’s Run’ (1976), he played the lead role as ‘Logan.’

York played ‘Prof. Asher Fleming’ in the comedy-drama series ‘Gilmore Girls’ (2003-2004), and in the spy action-comedy film-series ‘Basil Exposition,’ he appeared as ‘Austin Powers’ (1997, 1999, 2002). He also guest-appeared in many TV-series, including ‘Babylon 5,’ ‘Sliders,’ ‘Law &Order: Criminal Intent’ and more.
York provided voice for various projects, including ‘Justice League Unlimited,’ ‘Batman: The Animated Series,’ ‘Superman: The Animated Series,’ ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars,’ ‘The Simpsons,’ ‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,’ and many more.
