Richard Widmark was an American actor and producer, best known for playing the negative character of ‘Tommy Udo ‘in his debut film ‘Kiss of Death’ (1947), for which he earned an ‘Academy Award’ nomination and won ‘Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer.’ He started his acting career as a radio actor in ‘Aunt Jenny's Real Life Stories’ (1938). He made his ‘Broadway’ debut in ‘Kiss and Tell ‘(1943), before making his big film debut. He was typecast as a villain in films, such as ‘The Street with No Name’ (1945),’ Yellow Sky ‘(1948), and ‘No Way Out’ (1950). However, he also played heroic roles in films such as ‘Down to the Sea in Ships,’ (1949), ‘Don't Bother to Knock’ (1952), ‘The Tunnel of Love’ (1959), and ‘The Long Ships’ (1964). Some of his TV shows include ‘I Love Lucy’ (1955), ‘Madigan’ (1972-1973), and ‘The Lives of Benjamin Franklin’ (1974-1975).
