Maximilian Schell was a well-known Swiss-Austrian stage and film actor. He was also the director, producer and writer of some of his own films. For his performance in ‘Judgement at Nuremberg,’ which was also his second acting role in Hollywood, he bagged in an ‘Academy Award.’
Prior to moving to Hollywood, he appeared in a number of German films - many of them being anti-war films. He got ‘Academy Award’ nominations for his role in ‘Julia,’ and ‘The Man in the Glass Booth.’
He earned a ‘Golden Globe Award’ for ‘Stalin,’ where he portrayed Vladimir Lenin. Schell also acted in many plays and his ‘Hamlet’ is as ‘one of the greatest Hamlets ever.’
Some of his other popular films include ‘The Black Hole,’ ‘Cross of Iron,’ ‘Krakatoa, East of Java,’ ‘A Bridge Too Far,’ ‘Deep Impact,’ ‘Tokapi,’ ‘The Odessa File,’ ‘Marlene.’
