Gaetano John ‘Gaten’ Matarazzo III started his acting journey with Broadway musicals ‘Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’ (2011) as ‘Benjamin,’ and ‘Les Miserables’ (2014) in the role of ‘Gavroche.’ His first screen appearance was as ‘Finn’ in an episode of the crime-thriller series ‘The Blacklist’ (2015).
In 2016, Matarazzo was cast as ‘Dustin Henderson’ in the Netflix sci-fi horror-drama series ‘Stranger Things’ (2016-present). For his performance he received many nominations, including ‘Young Artist Awards, ‘Teen Choice Awards,’ and won ‘Shorty Award for Best Actor’ (2017), and ‘Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a drama Series’ along with the cast.
In 2017, Matarazzo appeared in the comedy-clip show ‘Ridiculousness,’ and the musical reality competition series ‘Lip Sync Battle,’ also in another musical-reality series ‘Drop the Mic’ (2018). He was seen in music videos by Katy Perry, Green Day and others.
Since2019, Matarazzo has been host of horror-themed hidden-camera prank show ‘Prank Encounters.’ He provided voice for ‘Bubba in ‘The Angry Birds Movie 2’ (2019), and appeared in episode ‘Mushroom’ of children’s cooking-series ‘Waffles + Mochi’ (2021).
