Christina Pickles is best known for her role as ‘Nurse Helen’ in the medical drama series ‘St. Elsewhere’ (1982 – 1988), for which she was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. She was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy series for her appearance in ‘Friends’ (1994 – 2003).
She started her career at the Arena Stage in Washington DC in the play ‘Look Back in Anger,’ in 1961, and made her Broadway debut in the play ‘A Severed Head,’ in 1964.
Pickles appeared for the first time on television as Linell Conway in the soap opera ‘Guiding Light’ (1970 – 1972). Her other notable television appearances are ‘Family Ties’ (1988), ‘Silk Stalkings’ (1996 – 1998), ‘Get Real’ (1999 – 2000), and ‘Family Guy’ (2017).
She has acted in several movies and received mixed reviews for her performances in ‘Legends of the Fall’ (1994), ‘Grace of My Heart’ (1996) and ‘The Wedding Singer’ (1998).
Her ‘Live at the Foxed Den’ (2013) turned out to be a box office disaster.
