Chris Langham is best known for his role as minister ‘Huge Abbot’ in the comedy series ‘The Thick of it’ (2006 – 2007). His first breakthrough into the entertainment industry was as a writer for the comedy television series ‘The Muppet Show’ (1976 – 1981). He also made a guest appearance in the nineteenth episode of the final season of the series in 1981.
He was cast for the television sketch comedy ‘Not the Nine O’Clock News’ in 1979. However, most of his parts were later cut and the series too did not prove that successful.
Langham appeared as a police driver in the comedy film ‘The Pink Panther Strikes Again’ alongside Peter Sellers in 1976.
He received positive reviews for his performances in ‘The Secret Policeman’s Other Ball’ (1982), ‘The Emperor’s New Clothes’ (2002) and ‘Black Pond’ (2011).
He appeared in the professional stage version of the science fiction series ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ and narrated the radio series ‘The History of Rock’ in 1984.
His career suffered a setback when he was found guilty of possessing child pornography in 2007. His last appearance on the big screen was in the comedy drama film ‘The Darkest Universe’ (2016).
