Barbara Bel Geddes was an American actress and children’s author. She is best remembered for her role as ‘Miss Ellie Ewing’ in the television series ‘Dallas,’ from 1978 to 1990. She won a ‘Prime Time Emmy Award’ and a ‘Golden Globe Award’ in 1980 and 1982, respectively, for her role. She started her acting career with theatre and received recognition in the ‘Broadway’ shows, such as ‘Deep Are the Roots’ (1946) and ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’ (1955). Barbara made her screen debut in the 1947 film ‘The Long Night.’ Some of her popular films include ‘Blood on the Moon’ (1948), ‘Panic in the Streets’ (1950), ‘Fourteen Hours’ (1951), ‘Vertigo’ (1958), ‘The Five Pennies’ (1971),  and ‘The Todd Killings’ (1971). Some of her least unsuccessful films include ‘By Love Possessed’ (1961) and ‘Summertree’ (1971). She also worked in a few TV series, such as, ‘Studio One’ (1957-58), ‘Alfred Hitchcock Presents’ (1958-60), and ‘Spencer’s Pilot’ (1976).Â
