Ian McDiarmid is an actor and director from Scotland. His most popular role till date is of ‘Emperor Palpatine’ in the ‘Star Wars’ film series. He started his career as a theatre actor and director. He starred in many plays, such as ‘Hamlet’ (1972), ‘The Merchant of Venice’ (1984), ‘Every Good Boy Deserves Favour ‘(1978), ‘The Rehearsal, (1990), and ‘What Shadows’ (2016). He made his film debut in the British comedy ‘The Likely Lads’(1976). His other films include ‘Return of the Jedi’(1983), ‘Restoration’ (1995), ‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace’ (1999), ‘Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones’ (2002), ‘Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith’ (2005), and ‘The Lost City of Oz’ (2016). Some of his TV shows are ‘37 Days’ (2014), ‘Britannia’ (2018), and ‘Star Wars Rebels’ (2019). He has received many awards, including ‘ Olivier Award,’ ‘Saturn Award,’ and ‘Tony Award’ for various performances.
