English actress, model and director Elizabeth Henstridge began her professional acting career in the year 2010 with the short film ‘Easy Under the Apple Bough’ wherein she played the role of a farmer’s daughter. The following year, she once again acted in a short film titled ‘And the Kid’, for which she also turned a composer. The same year, she made her television debut by playing the role of Emily Alexander in few episodes of the long running British romance drama soap opera ‘Hollyoaks’. She was then roped in to play the role of Grace in the 2012 TV pilot called 'Shelter'. The series never happened; however, she ended up landing parts in various other films. These included the independent horror drama thriller 'The Thompsons' (2012), the action crime drama 'Gangs of Tooting Broadway' (2013) and the comedy crime drama 'Reach Me' (2014). During this time, she also acted in another short film called ‘Delicacy’ (2012).
Meanwhile, she bagged the role of a S.H.I.E.L.D. biochemist, Agent Jemma Simmons in ABC’s sci-fi action-adventure drama series ‘Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’. Set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this series premiered in 2013 and continued for seven seasons till 2020. Elizabeth Henstridge played her role in all the seven seasons (136 episodes) and was appreciated for her performance. She also won the ‘TVLine’ Performer of the Week Award for her performances in the episodes titled '4,722 Hours' (2015),'Inescapable' (2019) and 'The End Is at Hand'/'What We're Fighting For' (2020). '4,722 Hours', the fifth episode of the third season of the series was named the best television episodes of 2015 by The Atlantic magazine. The series itself received positive responses from the critics and has a Rotten Tomato score of 95%. In 2015, she lent voice to her character Jemma Simmons in the video game ‘Marvel: Future Fight’ and the next year once again did voiceover for her character in an episode of the animated television series ‘Ultimate Spider-Man’. In 2016, she also voiced her character in an episode of the TV Mini Series short ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot’.
From 2015 to 2017, Elizabeth Henstridge lent her voice to the role of Princess in 3 episodes of Disney’s animated television series ‘Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero’. In 2016, she became a part of the horror mystery thriller movie ‘Wolves at the Door’ and portrayed the role of Abigail Folger in it. The next year, she was seen in the role of Emily in an episode of the comedy series ‘Temporary’. In 2019, she played the lead role of a historian named Jessica Cooper in the romance drama TV movie ‘Christmas at the Plaza’. Following this, Elizabeth Henstridge was seen in the role of Anna in 2021 short film ‘The Imperfect Picture’. She was then cast in the lead role of Tara McAllister, a junior research fellow at the Oxford and a suspect in a kidnapping case, in Apple TV+’s crime drama thriller series ‘Suspicion’. The miniseries, which was based on the Israeli series ‘False Flag’, aired in 2022 and received mixed reviews from critics.
Apart from acting, Elizabeth Henstridge has also worked as director for an episode each of the TV Series 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' (2020) and 'Superman & Lois' (2022). Additionally, she also wrote, hosted and directed 46 episodes of the talk show ‘Live with Lil! AGENTS OF SHIELD’ (2020-2021). Her next work as a director is the short film ‘Air’. In 2022, she became a part of the comedy podcast series ‘Conference Call’ wherein she played Julie Burke, a tech entrepreneur.
