Yash Chopra was an Indian director and producer, best known for directing many successful films, including ‘Waqt’ (1965), ‘Daag’ (1973), ‘Deewar’ (1975), ‘Kabhie Kabhie (1976), ‘Lamhe (1991),’ ‘Darr (1993), ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ (1997), ‘Veer-Zaara’ (2004), and ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ (2012), which was his last film. Chopra started his career as an assistant director to I.S Johar. He also worked with his elder brother, B.R Chopra, for quite a while. He made his directorial debut in the drama film ‘Dhool Ke Phool’ in 1959. The film became the fourth highest grossing film of the year. It was critically-acclaimed as well. In 1971, Chopra founded ‘Yash Raj Films,’ which is now one of the biggest film production and distribution companies in India. Chopra was honored with countless awards and accolades, including 6 ‘National Film Awards, 11 ‘Filmfare Awards,’ ‘Dadasaheb Phalke Award’ (2001), and ‘Padma Bhushan’ (2005).Â
