Rekha, born Bhanurekha Ganesan, is an iconic Indian actress. Her acting career started as a child actress in a Telegu movie ‘Rangula Ratnam’ (1966). She made her debut as a lead actress in ‘Operation Jackpot Nalli C.I.D 999’ (1970). Controversies kept her first Bollywood movie ‘Anjana Safar’ from being released the same year. So, she officially made her Bollywood debut in ‘Sawan Bhadon’ in 1970.
Some of Rekha’s earliest hits were ‘Raampur Ka Lakshman’ (1972) and ‘Do Anjaane’ (1976). Rekha went on to deliver one of her most iconic performances to date in the role of Aarti in ‘Ghar’ (1978). Some of Rekha’s best movies are ‘Khubsoorat’ (1980), ‘Judaai’ (1980), ‘Umrao Jaan’ (1981), ‘Khoon Bhari Maang’ (1988), ‘Phool Bane Angaray’ (1996), and ‘Lajja’ (2001).
‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’ (1978), ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’ (1996), and ‘Koi…Mil Gaya’ (2003) are some of Rekha’s highest earning movies. With a career spanning more than 180 movies, it is no surprise that she has also starred in some massive box-office disasters. Some of Rekha’s worst movies are ‘Madam X’ (1994), ‘Bulandi’ (2000), and ‘Sadiyaan’ (2010).
