Lynda Carter first appeared in the 1974 American drama series ‘Nakia’ where she played the role of ‘Helen Chase.’ The following year, she joined the main cast of the American superhero television series ‘Wonder Woman’ where she played the role of ‘Diana Prince / Wonder Woman.’ The series ran for 59 episodes and went off-air in 1979. In 1976, Carter made her big-screen debut in the crime drama film ‘Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw’ directed by Mark L. Lester. The film saw mixed reviews upon release. She was next seen in several television series and films, including ‘The Last Song’ (1980), ‘The Muppet Show’ (1980), ‘Born to Be Sold’ (1981), ‘Hotline’ (1982), ‘Rita Hayworth: The Love Goddess’ (1983), ‘Partners in Crime’ (1984), ‘Mike Hammer: Murder Takes All’ (1989), ‘Daddy’ (1991), and ‘Posing: Inspired by Three Real Stories’ (1991). In 1992, she joined the television series ‘Hawkeye’ in which she played the role of ‘Elizabeth Shields’ and remained a part of the series until it went off-air in 1995.Â

In 2001, she starred as ‘Governor Jessman’ in the American comedy film ‘Super Troopers’ directed by Jay Chandrasekhar. Even though the film received a lukewarm response from critics, it did impressive business at the box office, grossing over $23.2 million on a budget of $1.5–3 million. In 2003, she made a return to television and appeared on ‘Hope & Faith’ (2003), ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ (2005), ‘Law & Order’ (2005), ‘Smallville’ (2007), ‘Two and a Half Men’ (2013), ‘Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle’ (2013), and ‘Skin Wars’ (2014). In 2016, she joined the American superhero television series ‘Supergirl’ where she portrayed President Olivia Marsdin. Carter remained a part of the show until 2018.Â
In 2018, Carter reprised her role as ‘Governor Jessman’ in ‘Super Troopers 2,’ the sequel to the 2001 film ‘Super Troopers.’ The film opened to mixed reviews and was a financial success. She was last seen in the 2020 American superhero film 'Wonder Woman 1984,’ directed by Patty Jenkins. The film received mostly mixed reviews from critics.
