Lesley Ann Warren was first seen in the Broadway musical '110 in the Shade' in 1963. She next appeared in the 1965 musical ‘Drat! The Cat!’ for which she won the ‘Theatre World Award.’ Around the same time, she made her TV film debut in the television film ‘Cinderella.’ The film was well-received by critics. After making brief appearances in television series and shows such as ‘For the People’ (1965), ‘Dr. Kildare’ (1966), and ‘Gunsmoke’ (1966), Warren made her big-screen debut with the 1967 American musical film ‘The Happiest Millionaire’ directed by Norman Tokar. The film received mixed reviews from critics and was the last live-action film produced by Walt Disney.Â
She went on to star in films like ‘The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band’ (1968), ‘Pickup on 101’ (1972), ‘Harry and Walter Go to New York’ (1976), and ‘Treasure of the Yankee Zephyr’ (1981). In 1982, she starred as ‘Norma Cassidy’ in the British-American musical comedy film ‘Victor/Victoria.’ She earned an ‘Academy Award’ nomination and ‘Golden Globe Award’ nomination for her performance in the film. She bagged another ‘Golden Globe Award’ nomination for her role as ‘Gilda’ in the 1984 Alan Rudolph-directed ‘Songwriter.’
In 1985, she was seen playing the role of ‘Miss Scarlet’ in the black comedy-mystery film ‘Clue’ directed by Jonathan Lynn. While the film opened to mixed reviews and failed to achieve success at the box office, it managed to achieve cult status later on. Warren continued to star in films like ‘Pure Country’ (1992), ‘Natural Enemy’ (1996), ‘The Limey’ (1999), ‘The Quickie’ (2001), ‘Secretary’ (2002), ‘Deepwater’ (2005), ‘Peep World’ (2010), ‘Jobs’ (2013), and ‘Echo Boomers’ (2020).
Warren has also maintained her presence on television and has appeared in series like ‘Mission: Impossible’ (1970-1971), ‘Dr. Simon Locke’ (1973), ‘79 Park Avenue’ (1977), ‘Evergreen’ (1985), ‘Family of Spies’ (1990), ‘Will & Grace’ (2001-2006), ‘In Plain Sight’ (2008-2012), and ‘Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce’ (2016-2017). In 2021, she appeared in the Episode: "Bette Davis Eyes" of the legal drama television series ‘All Rise.’
