Lee Sung-kyung began her career as a model and made her first screen appearance in a supporting role on the TV-drama ‘It’s Okay, That’s Love’ (2014), and then on the TV-series ‘Flower of Queen’ (2015), which fetched her ‘Best New Actress in Special Project Drama Award.’
Lee’s next starrer was college romance-series ‘Cheese in the Trap’ (2016), which was based on a webtoon. She portrayed a neurosurgeon in medical-drama series ‘The Doctors’ (2016). Sports-drama series ‘Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo’ (2016-2017), centered on the life of Olympic champion Jang Mi-ran, brought Lee her first lead role and ‘MBS Award for Excellent Actress in Miniseries.’ After a cameo in series ‘While You Were Sleeping’ (2017), she starred in fantasy-romance series ‘About Time’ (2018).
Lee’s debut feature-film was comedy-drama ‘Love + Sling’ (2018), followed by crime-comedy film ‘Miss & Mrs. Cop’ (2019). She played cardio-thoracic surgeon ‘Cha Eun-jae’ in the second season of popular medical-series ‘Dr. Romantic’ (2020), earning ‘SBS Excellence Award, Actress in Miniseries’ and ‘Asia Artist Best Actress Award.’ She appeared in cameo roles in series ‘Once Again,’ and ‘Record of Youth.’
Lee provided voice for Korean dubbing of animated musical-comedy ‘Trolls’ (2017).
