Kate del Castillo Negrete Trillo first appeared in ‘The Last Escape’ (1978) as a child-artist. Her debut in the telenovela ‘Muchachitas’ (1991) brought her wide recognition. Thereafter, Castillo starred in telenovelas ‘Magica Juventud’ (1992), ‘Imperio de cristal’ (1994), ‘Azul’ (1996), ‘La Mentira’ (1998), and also played lead roles in ‘Ramona’ (2000), ‘El derecho de nacer’ (2001) and others.
A recurring role in the drama-series ‘American Family’ (2003) marked Castillo’s American TV-debut. She then starred in the romantic-comedy film ‘American Visa’ (2005), followed by her first Hollywood film ‘Bordertown’ (2007). After playing the lead in the Mexican-American drama-film ‘Under the Same Moon’ (2007), she essayed supporting roles in ‘Lime Salted Love’ (2006), ‘The Black Pimpernel’ (2007), ‘Julia’ (2008), ‘Down for Life’ (2009).
Castillo played recurring role in the dark comedy-drama ‘Weeds’ (2009). Her performance in the telenovela ‘La reina del sur’ (2011-present) earned her immense popularity in Latin-America. She featured in American TV-series ‘CSI: Miami’ (2011), ‘Grimm’ (2012), ‘Dallas’ (2013), and the comedy series ‘Jane the Virgin’ (2015), followed by lead role in Netflix’s ‘Ingobernable’ (2017-2018).
Her other American films include ‘No Good Deed’ (2014), ‘The 33’ (2015 ), ‘All About Nina’ (2018), ‘El Chicano’ (2019) and ‘Bad Boys for Life’ (2020).
