John Woo is a Chinese-born Hong Kong filmmaker. He is considered to be one of the most influential film makers on the crime niche. The actor, writer and director is best known for making films, such as ‘A Better Tomorrow’ (1986), ‘Hard Boiled’ (1992), ‘Hard Target’ (1993) , ‘Face/Off’ (1997), and highly popular ‘Mission: Impossible 2’ (2000). He made his directorial debut in the 1974 film ‘The Young Dragons.’ For almost 11 years, John didn’t taste success, but his 1986 film ‘A Better Tomorrow’ became a huge commercial success. His ‘The Killer’ (1989) put him on the international pedestal and became the most successful feature film in Hong Kong after ‘Enter the Dragon’ (1973). He made his Hollywood debut in 1993 with ‘Hard Target.’ Some of his unsuccessful projects include ‘Run, Tiger Run’ (1985) and ‘Xiao Jiang’ (1985).
