Sir Bruce Joseph Forsyth-Johnson (who held a ‘Guinness World Record’ as the male TV-entertainer with longest career), first appeared on TV as a child artist on the BBC talent show ‘Come & Be Televised’ (1939). Later, he performed on stage and touring entertainment companies, wherein he was popular for his ‘Strong-man act.’
In 1958, Forsyth became the host of the variety show ‘Sunday Night at the London Palladium’ (1958-1964), in which he also conducted the game section, ‘Beat the Clock.’ He also hosted the televised annual variety show ‘The Royal Variety Performance’ (1961). He hosted his own TV show, ‘The Bruce Forsyth Show’ (1965-1973).
Forsyth’s first movie appearance was in the biopic (of stage actress Gertrude Lawrence) musical film ‘Star!’ (1968). In 1969, he appeared in the musical film ‘Can Heironymus Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe & Find True Happiness?’ and the TV comedy film ‘Red Peppers.’ In 1971, he featured as ‘Swinburne’ in the Disney musical fantasy film ‘Bedknobs and Broomsticks’ (1971), and the sketch-comedy film ‘The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins’ as ‘Clayton.’
Forsyth earned name as the host of the game show ‘The Generation Game’ (1971-1977, 1990-1994). The show’s success brought in a lot of popularity. Along with his touring live shows, he guest-appeared in several TV series, including ‘The Good Old Days’ (1973), ‘The Mating Season’ (1976), ‘The Muppet Show’ (1976), ‘Anna Pavlova’ (1983) and the TV film ‘Sammy & Bruce’ (1980).
Thereafter, Forsyth hosted the variety entertainment program ‘Bruce Forsyth’s Big Night’ (1978), followed by the game show ‘Play Your Cards Right’ (1980-1987, 1994-1999, 2002-2003) which was based on the American show ‘Card Sharks.’ He hosted the American game show ‘Bruce Forsyth’s Hot Streak’ (1986), after hosting the not so successful ‘Hollywood or Bust’ (1984).
Forsyth’s only sitcom role was as the ‘London Supermarket manager Slinger’ in ‘Slinger’s Day’ (1986-1987). He further hosted game shows ‘You Bet!’ (1988-1990), ‘Takeover Bid’ (1990-1991), British version of ‘The Price is Right’ (1995-2001), quiz-show ‘Didn’t They Do Well’ (2004). He anchored ‘Tonight at the London Palladium’ when his first show was revived in 2000. His last film role came in ‘House’ (2000).
Forsyth co-hosted (with Tess Daly) the dance contest TV show ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ (2004-2013). He appeared as a guest on the 2010 ‘A Comedy Roast,’ ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ and ‘Piers Morgan Life Stories.’ His illustrious career won him numerous awards and honors.

The film tells the story of three kids, Charlie, Carrie, and Paul, who are evacuated from London, and placed under the reluctant care of a witch named Miss Eglantine. Initially, they plan to run back to London, but they change their minds after learning that Miss Eglantine has magical powers. She reveals that she is learning magic to help the British forces win the war against the Germans.
