Amanda Blake was an American actress and animal lover, best known for playing saloon-keeper ‘Miss Kitty’ in the TV series ‘Gunsmoke,’ from 1955 to 1974. She made her film debut in the film ‘Stars in My Crown’ (1950). She worked in many films, including ‘Cattle Town’ (1952), ‘Miss Robinson Crusoe’ (1954), ‘A Star is Born’ (1954), ‘The Glass Slipper’ (1955), and ‘The Boost’ (1988).Â
Her last film appearance came in 1988 film ‘B.O.R.N.’ Her TV debut came in ‘Schlitz Playhouse of Stars’ in 1952. After her role in ‘Gunsmoke,’ Amanda was nicknamed as the ‘Young Greer Garson.’Â
She made several appearances in TV shows, such as ‘Studio One’ (1958), ‘The Quest’ (1976), ‘Hart to Hart’ (1983), ‘Brothers’ (1986), and ‘Gunsmoke: Return to Dodge’ (1987). She made her last appearance as ‘Mrs. Sylvia Wilson’ in the American show ‘The New Dragnet’ in 1988. She died in 1989.
