Yorgos Lanthimos is a Greek film and stage director, producer, and screenwriter. He started his career directing TV commercials, music videos, theatre plays, etc. He made his film debut as a director in the 2001 Greek comedy ‘My Best Friend’; he co-directed the film with Lakis Lazopoulos. His next film ‘Kinetta’ premiered at the ‘2005 Toronto Film Festival.’ His next film ‘Dogtooth’ was screened at the ‘2009 Cannes Film Festival’ and won ‘Prix Un Certain Regard.’ It was also nominated under the ‘Best Foreign Picture’ category at the ‘83rd Academy Awards.’ He acted in and produced his next venture ‘Attenberg’ in 2010. He wrote, directed, and produced ‘Alps’ (2011), which was honored with the ‘Osella Award’ for ‘Best Screenplay’ at the ‘68th Venice International Film Festival.’ His 2015 film ‘The Lobster’ earned another ‘Oscar’ nomination for ‘Best Original Screenplay.’ ‘The Favorite’ earned two ‘Academy Award’ nominations for ‘Best Picture ‘and ‘Best Director.’
