Ravi Teja initially worked as an assistant director and appeared in supporting roles in movies like ‘Karthavyam’ (1990) and ‘Aaj Ka Goonda Raj’ (1992). He continued to make small appearances in movies such as ‘Abhimanyu’ (1990), ‘Chaitanya’ (1991), ‘Aaj Ka Goonda Raj’ (1992), ‘Varasudu’ (1993), ‘Allari Priyudu’ (1993), and ‘Ninne Pelladata’ (1996).Â
In 1998, Ravi Teja made his official debut in the Y. V. S. Chowdary-directed action drama film ‘Seetharama Raju’ where he played the role of ‘Seenu.’ He got his first professional breakthrough as a lead actor in the romantic drama film ‘Nee Kosam’ (1999) for which he received a ‘Nandi Award for Best Actor Special Jury.’ The following year, he starred as ‘Appala Raju’ in the comedy film ‘Kshemamga Velli Labhamga Randi.’ The film became both a critical and commercial success. That same year, he appeared in another comedy film ‘Tirumala Tirupati Venkatesa’ directed by Sathibabu.
Ravi Teja soon gained the status of a celebrity with hits like ‘Itlu Sravani Subramanyam’ (2001), ‘Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru’ (2002), and ‘Idiot’ (2002). His action drama movie ‘Khadgam’ (2002) won the ‘Sarojini Devi Award for a Film on National Integration.’ In 2008, he starred in the drama movie ‘Neninthe’ directed by Puri Jagannadh. While the film failed at the box office, Ravi earned considerable praise for his performance and even bagged the ‘Nandi Award for Best Actor.’Â
After the setback by ‘Neninthe,’ Ravi Teja came back strong with movies like ‘Kick’ (2009), ‘Don Seenu’ (2010), ‘Mirapakay’ (2011), ‘Daruvu’ (2012), ‘Balupu’ (2013) and ‘Power’ (2014). The year 2015 saw the release of Ravi Teja’s highly anticipated film ‘Kick 2.’ However, despite the hype around the film, it failed at the box office. His next release that year was the Sampath Nandi-directed action-comedy film ‘Bengal Tiger.’ The film was a blockbuster hit and became one of the highest-grossing films of the year. He continued to star in films such as ‘Raja The Great’ (2017), ‘Touch Chesi Chudu’ (2018), ‘Nela Ticket’ (2018), ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ (2018), and ‘Disco Raja’ (2020).
In 2021, Ravi Teja starred as ‘CI Pothuraju Veera Shanker’ in the action thriller film ‘Krack’ directed by Gopichand Malineni. The film received a positive response from critics and went on to become a commercial hit. Ravi Teja will be next seen in the upcoming Ramesh Verma-directed action crime film ‘Khiladi.’ Some of his other upcoming films include ‘Ramarao on Duty,’ ‘Tiger Nageswara Rao,’ and ‘Ravanasura.'
