Bhalladeva conspires against his brother, the true heir to the throne of Mahismati, Amarendra Baahubali, and has him killed by deceiving the Queen Sivagami. Then he imprisons Amarendra’s wife and betrays Sivagami who manages to escape with Amarendra’s infant son. When the son Mahendra grows up and learns the truth he declares war to avenge his parents.
