British actress Poppy Drayton began her career in 2012 with a short drama film ‘Emily’ wherein she played the title role. The following year, she was seen in Hallmark Channel's television movie pilot of 'When Calls the Heart' in which she portrayed the role of Elizabeth Thatcher. The same year, she was seen in the Christmas special episode of ITV’s historical drama series ‘Downton Abbey’. In the episode titled ‘The London Season’, she played the role of Madeleine Allsopp. In 2014, she acted in an episode each of television series ‘Father Brown’, ‘Midsomer Murders’ and ‘Plebs’ and played the role of Amy in Andres Dussan directed comedy film ‘Down Dog’. The following year, she had two film releases – Russell England directed horror thriller ‘Unhallowed Ground’ and Diego Rocha directed crime horror thriller ‘Writers Retreat’. In both films, she played the lead roles.
Poppy Drayton was next roped in to play the main role of the Elven Princess Amberle Elessedil in the first season of the American fantasy drama television series ‘The Shannara Chronicles’ (2016). In the second season, which aired in 2017, she was in a guest role. In 2016, she also lent her voice to the role of Shira Knight of Filianore in the video game ‘Dark Souls III’. In the year 2018, she once again worked in a Hallmark television movie – this time in Dwight H. Little’s romantic drama film ‘Home by Spring’ wherein she played the lead role of Loretta Johnson. The same year she was seen in the starring role (Elizabeth) in Blake Harris and Chris Bouchard’s live action family feature film ‘The Little Mermaid’.
In 2019, she had a couple of film releases wherein she was seen in the lead roles. These were David Mahmoudieh directed romance drama 'See You Soon' and John Wynn and Akhtem Seitablaev directed historical action drama 'The Rising Hawk'. The same year, Poppy Drayton joined the cast of American fantasy drama television series ‘Charmed’ and played the main role of the demon-witch Abigael Jameson-Caine. She appeared in the series in second and the third season till 2021. In between in 2020, she worked in yet another short film called ‘Snake Dick’.
The Little Mermaid is a fantasy romantic comedy adventure film which tells the story of Xuan, a business tycoon, whose project causes lot of aquatic people to fall sick and even die. The remaining survivors decide to send Shan, a beautiful young mermaid, to seduce and assassinate him. She pretends to be a dancer and eventually meets Xuan, and after spending some time with him, they both fall for each other. Things get even more complicated when Xuan learns about Shan’s real identity.
