Kang Ha-neul made his screen debut as ‘Choi Hoon’ in the 2007 television drama series ‘My Mom! Super Mom!’ He went on to make his big-screen appearance in the 2011 Lee Joon-ik-directed South Korean war comedy film ‘Battlefield Heroes,’ in which he portrayed ‘Yeon Namsan.’ The film grossed over $11.7 million at the box office but was considered a financial disappointment. That same year, he also starred in the South Korean romantic comedy film ‘You're My Pet,’ directed by Kim Byeong-kon. He next appeared in films like ‘Mourning Grave’ (2014), ‘C'est Si Bon’ (2015), and ‘Empire of Lust’ (2015). In 2015, he starred as ‘Kyung-jae’ in the South Korean coming-of-age film ‘Twenty,’ directed by Lee Byeong-heon. For his performance, Ha-neul won the ‘Korean Film Actors' Guild Award’ along with the ‘Korea World Youth Film Festival Award.’
He continued to star in films such as ‘Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet’ (2016), ‘Like for Likes’ (2016), ‘New Trial’ (2017), ‘Midnight Runners’ (2017), ‘Forgotten’ (2017), ‘Heung-boo: The Revolutionist’ (2018), and ‘I Have a Date with Spring’ (2018).
In 2019, he portrayed ‘Hwang Yong-sik’ in the South Korean television series ‘When the Camellia Blooms,’ directed by Cha Yeong-hoon. The show received positive reviews and became the highest-rated South Korean television miniseries of 2019. Ha-neul also won several awards, including 2 ‘KBS Drama Awards,’ for his portrayal of ‘Hwang Yong-sik’ in the series. In 2021, he starred as ‘Park Young-ho’ in the South Korean drama film ‘Waiting for Rain,’ directed by Jo Jin-mo. The film grossed over $3.26 million at the box office. He last appeared in the 2022 Kim Jeong-hoon-directed South Korean period adventure film ‘The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure.’ The film holds a 60% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
