Jaime Camil made his screen debut in the Mexican telenovela ‘Mirada de mujer’ in 1997. He played the role of ‘Antonio Ramírez’ and remained a part of the show until it went off-air in 1998. He next appeared in television series and shows such as ‘Por tu amor’ (1999), ‘Mi destino eres tú’ (2000), ‘La hora pico’ (2000-2001), ‘Diseñador de ambos sexos’ (2001), and ‘La familia P. Luche’ (2002). He made his silver screen debut in the 2004 sport drama film ‘Puños rosas’ directed by Beto Gómez. That same year, he also became a part of the Mexican telenovela ‘Mujer de madera’ created by Emilio Larrosa. The series aired 205 episodes before going off-air in 2005. He continued to star in television series such as ‘La fea más bella’ (2006-2007), ‘Una familia de diez’ (2007), ‘Las tontas no van al cielo’ (2008), ‘Los exitosos Pérez’ (2009-2010), ‘Por ella soy Eva’ (2012), and ‘Qué pobres tan ricos’ (2013-2014). In 2014, he joined the main cast of the American romantic comedy-drama and satirical telenovela ‘Jane the Virgin’ as ‘Rogelio de la Vega.’ The series ran for 5 seasons and aired its final episode in 2019. Camil also won 3 ‘Teen Choice Awards’ and the ‘National Hispanic Media Coalition Impact Award’ for his portrayal of Rogelio de la Vega in the show.
Camil also appeared in television shows like ‘The Noite com Danilo Gentili’ (2014), ‘The Talk’ (2014), ‘Last Week Tonight with John Oliver’ (2016), ‘Elena of Avalor’ (2016-2020), and ‘Legend of the Three Caballeros’ (2018). In 2018, he voiced ‘Chupacabra’ in the American computer-animated monster comedy film ‘Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation’ directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. The film, despite opening to mixed reviews, was a major box office success and managed to gross over $528 million on a $65-80 million budget. He was next seen in films like ‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’ (2019), ‘Madness in the Method’ (2019), ‘My Boyfriend's Meds’ (2020), and ‘Kimi’ (2022). In 2022, he was last seen portraying ‘Vicente Fernández’ in the Mexican biographical drama television series ‘The Idol of the People’ in 2022.
