George Reeves was an American actor, best known for playing ‘Superman’ in the TV show ‘Adventures of Superman’ (1952 – 1958), which was the first ever TV show to feature the superhero. He made his acting debut in an uncredited role in a melodramatic film ‘Espionage Agent’ (1939).  His first credited role came in the 1939 hit film ‘Gone with the Wind.’ Some of his popular films are ‘Calling All Husbands’ (1940), ‘Blue, White and Perfect’ (1942), ‘The Sainted Sisters’ (1948), ‘The Good Humor Man’ (1950), ‘Superman and the Mole Men’ (1951), ‘Stamp Day for Superman’ (1954), and ‘Westward Ho the Wagons!’ (1956). He made his TV debut in a series titled ‘The Clock’ in 1949. Some of his best appearances came in shows, such as ‘The Silver Theatre’ (1949 – 1950), ‘The Trap’ (1950), ‘Lights Out’ (1950-1951),’ Fireside Theater’ (1952), and ‘I Love Lucy’ (1957).Â
