George Chakiris is a former American actor, dancer, and singer, best known for playing ‘Bernardo’ in the film ‘West Side Story’ (1961). The film was hugely successful fetched him the ‘Academy Award’ for ‘Best Supporting Actor.’ George made his film debut in ‘Song of Love’ (1947). For the next ten years, he appeared in small roles, before having his breakthrough in ‘West Side Story.’ Some of his most successful films include ‘Diamond Head’ (1962), ‘Bebo’s Girl’ (1964), ‘Is Paris Burning?’ (1966), ‘The Young Girls of Rochefort’ (1967), and ‘The Big Cube’ (1969). Some of his unsuccessful films are ‘The Mona Lisa Has Been Stolen (1966), ‘The Day the Hot Line Got Hot’ (1968), and ‘Pale Blood’ (1990).
