Frances Bavier was an American actress, best known as ‘Aunt Bee’ on ‘The Andy Griffith Show’ (1960-68) and ‘Mayberry R.F.D.’ (1968 -70). She made her acting debut in the stage comedy ‘The Poor Nut’ (1925). She made her ‘Broadway’ debut in the ‘On Borrowed Time.’ She made her screen debut in 1931, in the film ‘Girls About Town.’ She had her first credited film role as ‘Mrs. Asbury’ in ‘O, My Darling Clementine’ (1943). Her other films are ‘The Day the Earth Stood Still’ (1951), ‘Horizons West’ (1952), ‘It Started With a Kiss’ (1959), and ‘Benji’ (1974), which was also her final film role. She made her TV debut as ‘Martha Carver’ in an episode of ‘Racket Squad’ (1952). She played the main role of ‘Mrs. Amy Morgan’ in ‘It's a Great Life’ (1954-56). Her other popular shows include ‘The Eve Arden Show’ (1957-58), ‘77 Sunset Strip’ (1959), and ‘Rawhide’ (1960).Â
