Connie Booth is an American-born actress and comedian. She is best known for her role as ‘Polly Sherman’ in British TV sitcom ‘Fawlty Towers’ (1975 – 1979). She co-wrote the show with her then husband, John Cleese. She made her screen debut in the TV film ‘How to Irritate People’ (1968). She made her film debut in ‘And Now for Something Completely Different’ (1971). Some of her popular films include ‘The Strange Case of the End of Civilization as We Know It’ (1977), ‘The Story of Ruth’ (1982), ‘84 Charing Cross Road’ (1987), ‘Hawks’ (1988), and ‘American Friends’ (1991). She also worked in a few unsuccessful films, including ‘Monty Python and the Holy Grail’ (1975), ‘High Spirits’ (1988), and ‘Leon the Pig Farmer’ (1993). She also appeared in TV shows, such as ‘Dickens of London’ (1972), ‘The Tomorrow People’ (1994), and ‘The Buccaneers’ (1955).Â
