Cha Tae-hyun was first seen in the 1995 television series ‘A Sunny Place of the Young.’ In 1997, he made his big-screen debut in the comedy film ‘Hallellu-ya,’ directed by Seung-Soo Shin. That same year, he also made an appearance in the South Korean television series ‘First Love,’ directed by Lee Eung-jin. The show was a massive success and became one of the highest-rated Korean dramas of all time. He continued to star in television series like ‘Shy Lovers’ (1998), ‘Sunflower’ (1998), ‘Happy Together’ (1999), ‘I'm Still Loving You’ (1999), ‘Into the Sunlight’ (1999), and ‘Juliet's Man’ (2000). In 2001, he portrayed ‘Gyun-woo’ in the South Korean romantic comedy film ‘My Sassy Girl,’ directed by Kwak Jae-yong. The film received wide acclaim upon release and grossed over $32.3 million at the box office. Tae-hyun also won ‘Grand Bell Award’ and ‘Blue Dragon Film Award’ for his performance in the film. He was next seen in films such as ‘Lovers' Concerto’ (2002), ‘Happy Ero Christmas’ (2003), ‘Two Guys’ (2004), ‘Sad Movie’ (2005), ‘My Girl and I’ (2005), ‘Highway Star’ (2007), and ‘Horton Hears a Who!’ (2008). In 2008, he starred as ‘Nam Hyun-soo’ in the Kang Hyeong-cheol-directed South Korean film ‘Scandal Makers.’ The film was a major commercial success and became the highest-grossing Korean film of 2008.
Tae-hyun next appeared in films like ‘Maybe (Rabbit and Lizard)’ (2009), ‘Triangle’ (2009), ‘Hello Ghost’ (2010), ‘Sunny’ (2011), ‘Champ’ (2011), ‘Never Ending Story’ (2012), ‘The Grand Heist’ (2012), ‘Steal My Heart’ (2013), ‘Tazza: The Hidden Card’ (2014), ‘Slow Video’ (2014), ‘My New Sassy Girl’ (2016), ‘Because I Love You’ (2017), and ‘Along With the Gods: The Two Worlds’ (2017). He was last seen in the 2022 Choi Jae-hoon-directed South Korean film ‘The Killer: A Girl Who Deserves to Die’ where he played the role of a trauma cleaner. The film was based on Bang Ji-ho’s novel, ‘The Kid Deserves to Die.’
