Mary Anissa Jones first appeared on TV-commercials at the age of 6. In 1966, at 8 years of age, she was cast in sitcom ‘Family Affair’ (1966-1971) in the role of ‘Ava Elizabeth ‘Buffy’ Patterson-Davis,’ one of the three orphaned siblings who are sent to live with their ‘Uncle Bill.’ The hit series made Jones a child star, which brought into market many ‘Buffy’ products such as dolls, clothing lines, coloring books amongst others.
Further, Jones appeared as a co-host on an episode of variety-show ‘The Hollywood Palace’ (1967), and played cameo roles on ‘Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In’ (1968). In comedy film ‘The Trouble with Girls’ (1969) starring Elvis Presley, Jones played ‘Carol Bix.’ She appeared as ‘Buffy’ in an episode of ‘To Rome with Love’ (1970).
After the sitcom ‘Family Affair’ was suddenly cancelled in 1971, Jones found it difficult to get roles she preferred. She died of drug-overdose at the age of 18.
