Eva Ulrika Jonsson began her television career in 1989 as a ‘Weather Presenter’ on ‘Good Morning Britain’ (1989-1992), and the Swedish TV channel TV-3.
Jonsson was a co-presenter on the BBC quiz-show ‘Who’s Bluffing Who?’ (1991). That same year she starred in the French-Canadian film ‘The Annunciation of Marie.’ Next, she presented the British sports entertainment game show ‘Gladiators’ (1992-2000), adapted from the American program; and also presented the TV series ‘The National Lottery’ (1994).
Jonsson appeared as a panelist on the show ‘That’s Show-business’ (1994-1995) and as team captain on the comedy panel game show ‘Shooting Stars’ (1995-2002, 2009-2011). She co-hosted the international songwriting competition show ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ (1998), the beauty pageant ‘Miss World’ (1999), and ‘Royal Variety Program’ (1998).
As the presenter of BBC-2 ‘The Enormous Election’ (1997), Jonsson interviewed the then-British PM John Major. In 1997, she starred in the TV movie ‘It’s Ulrika!’ and appeared as herself in the 1999 TV movie ‘Sex ‘n’ Death.’ She presented the TV series documentary ‘Ulrika in Euroland’ (1998), wherein she interviewed important personalities like Gordon Brown, then-Chancellor of the Exchequer (British government).
Further, Jonsson presented the game show ‘Dog Eat Dog’ (2001-2002) and co-presented a TV-program ‘The Joy of Text’ (2001) with Terry Alderton. She hosted some TV specials, including ‘Blushing Brides’ (1998), ‘Mother Knows Best’ (1999), ‘Battle of the Fantasy Bands’ (2001), ‘Sports Relief’ (2002), among many others.
Jonsson next presented the first season of the TV series about home makeover by children, ‘Home on their Own’ (2002). After hosting the beauty pageant ‘Miss Sweden,’ she appeared in the BBC TV series ‘Comic Relief Does Fame Academy’ (2003), followed by the TV series ‘Britain’s Best Sitcoms’ (2004) and ‘The Match’ (2004). She provided voice in the animated children’s series ‘Bob the Builder: Snowed Under’ (2004).
Thereafter, Jonsson participated in the daytime show ‘Come Dine with Me’ (2005) and was a contestant on the reality-show ‘Dancing on Ice’ (2007). In 2007, she was interviewed on the TV show ‘Ulrika: Am I a Sex Addict?’ and the TV series ‘Would I Lie to You?’
Jonsson was a contestant in ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ (2009), which she won with final voting. She also participated in ‘Ultimate Big Brother’ (2010). She hosted the lottery bingo game show ‘BingoLotto’ (2009), adapted from the Swedish show.
Jonsson appeared on ‘Celebrity Master Chef,’ first as a contestant (2017) and then as a ‘Guest Judge’ (2018). Due to medical reasons she had to leave early from the reality program ‘Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Win’ (2021). She was a contestant in the dating reality show ‘Celebs Go Dating’ (2022).
