Sylvia Hoeks made her screen debut as ‘Rumina’ in the 2005 drama film ‘Frankie’ directed by Fabienne Berthaud. In 2007, she played the role of a cashier in the Dutch film ‘Duska’ directed by Jos Stelling. The film was selected as Netherlands' entry to the 80th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. However, the film failed to make it to the final list. Hoeks was next seen in films like ‘Tiramisu’ (2008), ‘The Storm’ (2009), ‘Tirza’ (2010), ‘The Gang of Oss’ (2011), ‘Vatertage – Opa über Nacht’ (2012), and ‘The Girl and Death’ (2012). The year 2013 saw the release of the Giuseppe Tornatore-directed English-language Italian psychological thriller film ‘The Best Offer’ where Hoeks played the role of ‘Claire Ibbetson.’ The film received mixed reviews from critics and holds a 55% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. That same year, she also starred as ‘Anna’ in the Dutch comedy film ‘Bro's Before Ho's’ directed by Steffen Haars and Flip van der Kuil. In 2017, she portrayed ‘Luv’ in the American neo-noir science fiction film ‘Blade Runner 2049’ directed by Denis Villeneuve. The film, despite being largely praised by critics, failed to perform at the box office. That same year, she also appeared in the Steven Quale-directed action thriller film ‘Renegades.’ The film was panned by critics and sits on an 11% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. After making an appearance in the films, ‘All the Devil's Men’ (2018) and ‘The Girl in the Spider's Web’ (2018), Hoeks joined the main cast of the American science fiction drama television series ‘See’ in 2019. The series completed its second season in October 2021 and its third and final season will premiere in August 2022. Hoeks was last seen playing the role of ‘Anna’ in the 2021 Yoav Paz and Doron Paz-directed film ‘Plan A.’
